Some yet-to-be-identified gunmen have attacked Umulogho community in the Ehime Mbano Local Government Area of Imo State, killing three people.
SaharaReporters learnt that the three people included two Hausa and Igbo meat sellers who were killed without any intervention from the security operatives.
“This incident happened at a village, Oriagu Ehime Mbano LGA. Gunmen came there on Friday and opened fire on a Hausa man selling suya, leaving him dead with one other Igbo man who was selling suya with him.
“It breaks my heart to see this sad news. He was an Hausa man but loved by several Igbo. He has been in my village since I was small,” a source told SaharaReporters.
Michael Abattam, spokesperson of Imo state police command, confirmed the incident.
“It’s confirmed, three dead. Details soonest please,” he said.
There have been attacks by gunmen in Imo in recent times.
The attacks have been blamed on the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) — but the group has repeatedly denied the allegation.
