Anambra Election: Card Reader Fails As Electoral Officials Yet To Arrive In Some Polling Units

The much-awaited Anambra State election has suffered a bit of setback in Akwa ward, Ifitedunu Dunukofia local government area of the state following the failure of the card reader.

Some voters who have arrived in the ward had not been able to exercise their electoral right following the failure of the card reader.

This was made known via the official Twitter handle of the Peoples Democratic Party on Saturday.

The party wrote on Twitter, “The card reader in 002 Akwa ward, ifitedunu Dunukofia local government area is not functioning. @INECNigeria, please take note. #VoteDontFight #RescueAnambra @officialKolaO @elderyemak @valentineozigbo @EUinNigeria https://t.co/GOGSLf3c8O.”

Also, SaharaReporters gathered that as of 8:35am, elections material and ad-hoc staff were yet to arrive at the polling unit at Umu Ezu-Awo village in Enugu-ukwu Njikoka LGA, at unit 005, ward 3 of the village.

Voters at Omagba phase 2, Onitsha north local government area of the state have also complained that no activity had commenced.

Meanwhile, some ad-hoc staff at the social centre polling unit in Amesi have commenced the voter education explaining in details how the election will be conducted.

There have been concerns over the conduct of the election following the spate of insecurity in the southeast region particularly in Anambra State with the incident of kidnappings and killings trailing party campaigns.
