Pastor Kumuyi

DCLM Daily Manna 5 March 2025 Devotional By Pastor W. F. Kumuyi — Worship The Lord Of Glory

TOPIC: Worship The Lord Of Glory (DCLM Daily Manna 5 March 2025)

KEY VERSE: “For the LORD is great, and greatly to be praised: he is to be feared above all gods” (Psalm 96:4).

TEXT: Psalms 96:1-13 (KJV)

1 O sing unto the Lord a new song: sing unto the Lord, all the earth.

2 Sing unto the Lord, bless his name; shew forth his salvation from day to day.

3 Declare his glory among the heathen, his wonders among all people.

4 For the Lord is great, and greatly to be praised: he is to be feared above all gods.

5 For all the gods of the nations are idols: but the Lord made the heavens.

6 Honour and majesty are before him: strength and beauty are in his sanctuary.

7 Give unto the Lord, O ye kindreds of the people, give unto the Lord glory and strength.

8 Give unto the Lord the glory due unto his name: bring an offering, and come into his courts.

9 O worship the Lord in the beauty of holiness: fear before him, all the earth.

10 Say among the heathen that the Lord reigneth: the world also shall be established that it shall not be moved: he shall judge the people righteously.

11 Let the heavens rejoice, and let the earth be glad; let the sea roar, and the fulness thereof.

12 Let the field be joyful, and all that is therein: then shall all the trees of the wood rejoice

13 Before the Lord: for he cometh, for he cometh to judge the earth: he shall judge the world with righteousness, and the people with his truth.

MESSAGE:

In 1818, the inhabitants of the Georgian Isles in the South Seas turned from their worship of idols to the Christian faith. The London Missionary Society thought it appropriate that special hymns be written in honour of this milestone. “Hark! The Song of Jubilee” was one of those hymns, authored by James Montgomery.

Our passage calls on all men and women everywhere to “sing unto the LORD a new song.” We are to acknowledge His majesty and reciprocate His love and benevolence by yielding all to Him. Singing to the Lord expresses our gratitude, faith, submission, and trust in Him. It will be an awful demonstration of ingratitude if we do not give God all the glory and honour due to Him.

Singing with melody in our hearts to God is a mark of gratitude and appreciation. When we sing, God is honoured, magnified, and glorified. The Scripture is replete with testimonies of victories won by God’s people over their enemies when they added singing to their supplications. Beyond the spiritual potency of singing, songs also have many benefits that include relieving emotional stress, fostering social ties, and aiding mental health.

Given His sovereignty and benevolence, God “…is great, and greatly to be praised: he is to be feared [revered] above all gods. For all the gods of the nations are idols: but the LORD made the heavens” (Verses 4,5). Every living soul should give Him the glory due Him, worship Him in the beauty of holiness, and come to His courts with an offering. God’s people of all ages are commanded to glorify Him by their lives and declare His glory among the heathen. Thus, instead of murmuring and complaining about needs and lacks, we should join the company of all creatures to praise and magnify the Lord and His glorious name. With a gratuitous and appreciative spirit, we are to honour and sing of His goodness at all times so that others can come and taste His goodness and see that the Lord is good.

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY
All beings were made for God’s praise and He cannot be praised enough.
