The game ended goalless throughout the regulation time and added 30 minutes extra period.
A packed stadium witnessed the thrilling encounter as the two sides battled for the biggest trophy in African football on the night.
With Sunday's triumph, Senegal now joins the list of countries to have won the coveted competition.
The tournament was hosted by Cameroon this year after being postponed last year as a result of the outbreak of Coronavirus.
