Ex-Central Bank Governor Soludo Of APGA Party Defeats APC's Andy Uba, PDP's Ozigbo In Their Council Area

Charles Soludo, candidate of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), has won the highest votes in the Aguata Local Government Area of Anambra State.

The former governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria defeated Andy Uba of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and Valentine Ozigbo of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

The three frontrunners in the Anambra governorship election are from Aguata.

Soludo had 9,136 votes to defeat the other contenders, The Cable reports.

The APC candidate came a distant second after getting 4,773 votes. Ozigbo, the PDP candidate, followed closely after getting 3,798 votes.

While announcing the result on Sunday, Alim Ajake, the LGA returning officer, said the election did not hold in some units in four wards.

Ajake listed the affected wards as Umuchu I Ekwulobia II, Igbo-Ukwu I and Igbo-Ukwu II.

The returning officer said the total number of registered voters in Aguata LGA is 14,4766.

He said while 20,809 voters were accredited, 20,202 voted. According to him, 19,548 votes were valid and 654 were rejected.

APGA: 9,136 

APC: 4,773

PDP: 3,798

YPP: 1,070

Registered voters: 14,4766

Accredited voters: 20,809

Valid votes: 19,548

Rejected votes: 654

Total votes: 20,202
